Shoshone Falls

Shoshone Falls Park is home to one of Idaho’s most spectacular natural landmarks. Often called the “Niagara of the West,” Shoshone Falls drops 212 feet and stretches about 900 feet across the Snake River, creating a dramatic centerpiece within the Snake River Canyon. Families can enjoy the main waterfall overlook along with picnic areas, trails, open green space, and several places to take in the canyon scenery.

💡 Good to Know

• 🌊 Waterfall flow varies significantly throughout the year. Spring is generally the best time to see the falls at their strongest. Summer irrigation diversions can reduce the flow, and the falls may have very little water by fall.
• 🚗 A $5 vehicle entrance fee is currently charged seasonally at Shoshone Falls and Dierkes Lake.
• 👟 You do not need to hike to see the waterfall. The closest parking is approximately 75 feet from the main viewing platform, making this a practical sightseeing stop for families with younger children or visitors who cannot walk long distances.
• ♿ The park is ADA accessible, with multiple waterfall viewing locations that do not require stairs.
• 🐕 Dogs are welcome at Shoshone Falls Park but must remain on a leash.
• 🏕️ Shoshone Falls is a day-use destination; overnight camping and parking are not permitted.
• ⏰ Park and gate hours can change because of weather, seasonal operations, or temporary restrictions, so check current City of Twin Falls information before an early-morning or evening visit. The city currently has a temporary 7 a.m.–9 p.m. gate schedule in effect.
