Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston combines Snake River recreation with the Lewis & Clark Discovery Center. Families can plan a picnic and a short walk, explore the interpretive exhibits, or arrange a camping stay as a base for the Lewis-Clark Valley.
Marina entrance work
Checked September 8, 2026: the park announces that the marina entrance will be closed to all traffic September 14–18 during dredging. This notice concerns the marina entrance, not a closure of the entire state park. Boaters should confirm access before traveling with a trailer.
Plan around your main activity
The park is at 5100 Hells Gate Road. The visitor center’s published hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily, with closures on major holidays; outdoor day-use hours are longer and may change at the manager’s discretion. Check the center separately if exhibits are the reason for your visit.
Camping and cabin reservations are separate from a day outing. Confirm the chosen site’s facilities, applicable fees, and current river conditions before booking or launching. The park office is 208-799-5015.
