About Idaho Family Fun Directory
Idaho Family Fun Directory began because I was tired of searching through multiple websites, social media pages, maps, and local resources just to find simple information about things to do.
I thought it should be easier.
As a grandma, I wanted an easier way to find places to take my grandchildren to play, explore, learn, and make memories. I also understand that family activities need to fit many different budgets. Sometimes the perfect Saturday is a free afternoon at a park. Sometimes it is a birthday at a larger attraction. Sometimes it is a picnic, a hike, a splash pad, a museum, or simply discovering someplace new.
Families deserve to know they have choices.
If finding these places was difficult for me, I knew other parents, grandparents, caregivers, and families were probably dealing with the same thing. I wanted to make the search a little easier and lift a small part of that weight from their shoulders.
My goal is simple: make family-friendly places across Idaho easier to discover, from small-town parks and hidden local favorites to well-known attractions throughout the state.
From Splash Pads To an Entire State
The directory started with splash pads, but it quickly grew.
The more I looked, the more I realized just how much Idaho has to offer. Parks, playgrounds, trails, campgrounds, pools, museums, indoor attractions, wildlife experiences, water recreation, and so much more are scattered throughout the state.
Idaho really does have almost everything but the ocean.
With four seasons, there is something to do year-round. From high desert to forests, rivers, lakes, farmland, and mountains, Idaho is an incredibly beautiful place to explore.
Sometimes the best adventure is not far away at all. You just have to know where to look.
Helping Families Find Their Next Adventure
I want Idaho Family Fun Directory to be easy to use, accurate, helpful, and never overwhelming.
Families should be able to quickly find a place, understand what it offers, see what it looks like, and decide whether it fits what they need that day.
A memorable family day does not have to be expensive. Children can be just as excited discovering a new playground, running through a splash pad, finding bugs along a trail, watching animals, or visiting somewhere they have never been before.
Some of my own favorite memories are of camping, hiking, fishing, and exploring with my parents. I still treasure those experiences today, and I hope this directory helps other families create memories of their own.
I want people who use this site to feel like someone has already done some of the searching for them.
Accuracy and Privacy Matter
A directory is only useful if families can trust the information they find.
Places change, businesses open and close, amenities are added or removed, and hours can change. I do my best to verify information and keep listings updated as places change and the directory grows.
Before building Idaho Family Fun Directory, I spent many years working as an emergency dispatcher. Protecting people and thinking about safety became a natural part of how I look at the world.
That also influences how I approach photography.
Whenever possible, I want photographs to focus on the location itself rather than identifiable children or families. The photos should help someone picture visiting a park, trail, playground, or attraction while still respecting the privacy of the people already enjoying it.
I hope someone sees a photo and thinks, “That looks fun. We should go there.”
Always Growing
Photographing and documenting family-friendly places across an entire state is a big undertaking, and I know it may take years.
That is okay.
The process has already given me reasons to travel, explore Idaho, and discover places I might never have visited otherwise. I have also learned a great deal about websites, photography, social media, and building a resource like this from the ground up.
The directory will continue to grow along with that journey.
My hope is that Idaho Family Fun Directory becomes the place families return to again and again when they ask:
What should we do today?
If this directory helps a family discover somewhere new, spend time together, or create a memory they will still talk about years from now, then it is doing exactly what I hoped it would do.
Less time searching. More time making memories.
