- Vehicle access to the top is closed until further notice. Trails are open sunrise to sunset, and the mesa closes to all access at sunset.
- Main access is from the Old Idaho Penitentiary lot at 2421 Old Penitentiary Road; another designated trailhead is near Warm Springs Golf Course.
- Avoid muddy clay trails. Shorter all-weather routes near the Old Penitentiary provide alternatives when other trails are too wet.
