County-supported information

Gem County’s 2023 comprehensive plan identifies the complex as county-owned, with ball fields and a multiuse loop trail. It lists no general park fee while separately noting sports-complex fees. This does not establish current rental, league or reservation charges.

Reported amenities and trail details

Emmett Connections reports baseball fields, a skate park, basketball and volleyball courts, an amphitheater, paved walking paths and a stocked fishing pond.

AllTrails describes a 1.2-mile loop with generally flat terrain, asphalt with bumps and cracks, and a wooden boardwalk with edge railings. Its guide reports picnic tables, benches and wheelchair-accessible restrooms near the trailhead, and describes the route as likely suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. These are published trail reports, not a current inspection of all facilities.

There is no playground at Gem Island Sports Complex, confirmed by Gem County staff.

Google Maps observations

County staff confirmed the restroom locations on October 21, 2026: a pit toilet at the west end by the pond, a portable toilet on the east side, and additional units during sports season. Accessibility and servicing schedules remain unconfirmed.

A park sign visible in October 2022 Google Street View states hours are one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset and prohibits swimming in the pond. County staff confirmed on October 21, 2026 that hours are as posted. Follow current on-site signs and temporary restrictions.

At the riverside Gem Island Access area, signage visible in August 2025 Google Street View states there is no garbage service: pack it in, pack it out. This notice applies to that access area and does not establish trash-bin availability throughout the sports complex.

Good to Know

AllTrails notes limited shade and road crossings without consistent marked crosswalks. Bring sun protection and supervise children at crossings and near water.
