Lower Mesa Falls Overlook

Access notice: The Forest Service’s August 4, 2026 notice closes Upper Mesa Falls for construction beginning August 10 and explicitly says Lower Mesa Falls remains available to visit during that closure. Visit Idaho currently gives a broader road-closure warning for both falls, with a projected May 2027 reopening. Because these official sources conflict, call the Ashton/Island Park Ranger District at 208-652-7442 for current access before traveling. Do not enter the Upper Mesa Falls construction area.
