Big Southern Butte rises dramatically above the eastern Snake River Plain southwest of Arco. Families with older children who enjoy adventurous outings can hike, bike, photograph the volcanic landscape, watch for wildlife, and take in broad views from this massive rhyolite dome.

Good to Know
The approximate season is mid-May through October depending on snow and road conditions. The access road is open to full-sized vehicles but is rough and is better suited to high-clearance vehicles, ATVs, or UTVs.
