Explore Cascade

For a Cascade family outing, first choose between Lake Cascade, a scheduled swim at the recreation center, and the separate drive to Warm Lake. The campground names below cover more than one lake, so checking the water body is as important as checking the town.

Lake Cascade: choose the access point first

Lake Cascade State Park is spread across multiple camping and day-use areas. Pick the actual campground, picnic area or boat ramp before planning the drive. Campsites range from basic to serviced, and the amenities at one unit do not describe every site around the lake.

Ramp notice, checked September 8, 2026: the park’s current update lists Buttercup Boat Ramp closed because of lower water levels and warns that launching at Boulder Creek is at your own risk. Confirm your intended ramp with the park at 208-382-6544 before towing a boat. The notice does not mean the whole lake or park is closed.

For camping, check the booking rules for your exact unit. The park identifies Van Wyck, Blue Heron and Curlew as first-come options, while the other camping units require reservations during the regular season. Water and sewer availability can change with freezing temperatures.

Warm Lake is a different destination

Shoreline Campground is across the road from Warm Lake, reached by driving about 25 miles east on Warm Lake Highway from Cascade before the final campground turn. It is not a campground on Lake Cascade.

Shoreline has vault toilets and drinking water but no electricity. A boat ramp is across the road, and Billy Rice Swim Beach is a nearby day-use option. Plan road crossings with children and check the individual Warm Lake-area campground listing before reserving.

If your family wants pool time without a lake outing, use Cascade Aquatic & Recreation Center’s open-swim schedule and closure calendar. Choose an actual public session rather than assuming the general facility hours mean every pool is available.
