Explore Drummond

From Drummond, families can plan a rail-trail outing in the Ashton–Tetonia corridor or a separate drive to Mesa Falls. The falls are regional destinations beyond town, and the three listings below should not be read as three attractions in downtown Drummond.

For walking or cycling

The Ashton–Tetonia Trail follows a 29.6-mile corridor with Teton views and historic grain elevators. A family visit can cover a short out-and-back section; there is no need to attempt the whole route. Choose your parking area and turnaround together.

Access check, September 8, 2026: The official park page still carries paving-project notices affecting trail sections and parking areas. Some projected reopening dates in that notice have already passed. Verify the latest access with park staff at 208-652-7520 before loading bikes, and follow posted closures. The trail does not provide overnight camping.

For a waterfall-focused day

Upper and Lower Mesa Falls are part of the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway outing. The historic Big Falls Inn visitor center at the upper falls interprets the area’s geology, river ecosystem and local history when open. The lower-falls overlook is another stop, rather than the same viewpoint under a different name.

Check seasonal road and visitor-center access before leaving Drummond, especially outside summer. Pick the trail or the falls as your main activity, then add the other only if your family has time and energy.
