Have you ever seen pictures of a local event and thought, “I wish I had known about that”?

Information about local events can be scattered everywhere. A library has its own calendar. A town posts an announcement. An organizer shares something on Facebook. It can be easy to miss something you would have enjoyed.

That is part of what I hope to make easier with Idaho Family Fun.

When I started the directory, I wanted an easier way to find places to take my grandchildren. As it grew, bringing community events together felt like a natural part of that work.

Some events come through the website, where organizers and community members can submit information for review. I also spend time searching library calendars, city and parks department websites, chambers of commerce, local venues, and social media announcements.

That searching takes me all over Idaho, even when I am sitting at home.

I want the directory to include little community gatherings along with bigger festivals and attractions. A children’s program at a small library deserves a place here, too.

Before adding an event, I check the organizer’s information and gather the details for the listing. I appreciate hearing when something changes, and the organizer’s page is the best place to check for the latest updates.

Once published, each event has a page on the website that people can find and share. I also feature selected events, weekend roundups, and seasonal collections on Facebook and Instagram.

There are a few ways to explore what is happening:

The Community Calendar brings together events across Idaho, from library programs and festivals to seasonal activities that continue for several weeks.

The regional calendars bring that browsing closer to home. Each also has an option to narrow the list by city.

The weekend roundups gather a selection of events for a particular weekend into one article for each region. They offer a look at what is coming up, with links to learn more.

Holiday and seasonal lists bring related events together across several weeks. Halloween is a good example, with pumpkin patches, costume events, trunk-or-treats, and celebrations happening throughout the state. The same approach works for Christmas, winter celebrations, the Fourth of July, and other holidays when there are enough events to make a special collection useful.

Halloween 2026 season totals: 121 directory listings across 46 Idaho communities. Treasure Valley and Southwest 56, Magic Valley and South Central 23, Eastern Idaho 31, North and North Central 11. Counted October 28, 2026, including past events.

The calendar continues to grow, and community help matters. If you are organizing a family-friendly event or know about one that belongs here, you can use the Submit an Event form.

When you find something someone else would enjoy, please pass it along. Send a listing to a friend, share a roundup with another family, or share a Facebook or Instagram post.

Someone has put time and care into making that event happen. Helping it reach a few more people is one of the things I hope this directory can do.

Thank you for helping me find and share more of what is happening across Idaho.
