North Menan Butte near Menan is one of the world’s largest volcanic tuff cones and a designated National Natural Landmark. The 3.1-mile trail climbs the extinct volcano, circles part of the rim, and gives families a close look at unusual volcanic geology and broad Snake River Plain views.

Good to Know
The site is free and open to non-motorized recreation only. The trail is rocky and can be hot and dry, with rattlesnakes possible. Bring plenty of water and sturdy footwear and supervise children carefully on steep or loose sections.
