Mud Lake Wildlife Management Area

Mud Lake Wildlife Management Area encompasses 11,468 acres surrounding a 4,500-acre shallow lake and extensive wetlands in Jefferson County. It provides opportunities for wildlife viewing, photography, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, and horseback riding.

Good to Know

The public address and map pin identify the North Ramp, but the WMA also has a South Ramp. Camping is allowed only at the two designated boat-ramp camping areas and is limited to 10 days. The western waterfowl nesting area is closed to all watercraft from April 1 through July 15. Motorized travel is restricted to open, established roads. Dogs must remain leashed year-round unless actively hunting, and wildlife-security and viewing areas have additional restrictions.
