Cress Creek Nature Trail

Cress Creek Nature Trail is a family-friendly interpretive trail overlooking the South Fork of the Snake River northeast of Idaho Falls. The self-guided route travels through sagebrush, juniper, and creekside habitat with interpretive signs, wildlife-viewing opportunities, and expansive views of the river and surrounding farmland.

💡 Good to Know

• 🚨 TEMPORARILY CLOSED: As of August 24, 2026, Cress Creek Nature Trail remains closed because of impacts from the Big Rock Fire. Check the BLM website for reopening information before visiting.
• ♿ The lower concrete portion of the trail is wheelchair accessible; beyond it, the route becomes narrower, steeper, and gravel-surfaced.
• 🫎 Wildlife can include deer, rabbits, eagles, and occasionally moose. Give wildlife plenty of space.
• ☀️ Bring water and sun protection, particularly during warmer weather.
• 💵 There is no fee to use the trail when it is open.
