Ashton-Tetonia Rail Trail Idaho State Park

The Ashton-to-Tetonia Trail is a 29.6-mile rail trail stretching through eastern Idaho farm country between Ashton and Tetonia. Following a former railroad route, the trail ranges from about 5,277 to 6,064 feet in elevation and offers broad views of the Teton Range, historic grain elevators, and trestle crossings over Fall River, Conant Creek, and Bitch Creek.

Good to Know

Checked September 8, 2026: the official paving notice still lists closures, but some projected reopening dates have passed. Call 208-652-7520 to confirm your trailhead and route; do not assume the older notice describes today’s access. Class 3 e-bikes, ATVs, OHVs, and other motor vehicles are not permitted. Overnight camping is not available. Indoor restrooms are at the Ashton Visitor Center, with vault toilets normally at Marysville and Judkins; availability may be affected by construction. Services are limited, so bring water and prepare for changing weather and trail surfaces. For current conditions, contact the park at 208-652-7520.
