Freedom Park is a large, scenic recreation park in Star with two stocked ponds, swimming and paddle access, a large disc golf course, walking paths, beaches, mature trees, and broad open green spaces. The park blends active recreation with quieter landscaped areas, giving families a wide range of ways to enjoy the space.
Water recreation is a major feature here, with swimming areas, fishing, kayak and paddle-board access, and a floating dock. Families who prefer to stay on land can explore the walking paths, play disc golf, relax on the grassy areas, or spend time beneath the park’s mature trees.
One of the park’s quieter features is the Veterans Garden, a landscaped flower garden planted with red, white, and blue flowers. A small water feature adds to the garden setting and makes this a particularly attractive area for a slower walk or peaceful break.
Freedom Park also connects naturally with the Star River Walk and Star Riverhouse, creating a larger recreation area where families can combine walking, water activities, picnicking, sports, and sightseeing in one visit.

Good to Know
Freedom Park is open from sunrise to sunset. There is no lifeguard on duty, so children should be closely supervised around the ponds, swimming areas, beaches, and dock.
The three shade structures are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved. Pets must be leashed after 10:00 a.m.
Freedom Park is a large park, and families may want to allow extra time to explore it rather than treating it as a quick playground-style stop. With water recreation, fishing, disc golf, walking paths, beaches, gardens, mature trees, and open lawn areas, there is enough here to build an entire family outing around.
The Star River Walk and Star Riverhouse sit within the same broader recreation area and blend naturally with Freedom Park, making it easy to extend a visit beyond the park itself.
